Hopping past the osteosarc average

June is flying by and we’re still hopping along.  I just finished my graduate work and when all this started back in October I didn’t think I’d have him long enough to get to this point.  Last month we were having issues with his back and balance, but after weekly and biweekly massage, chiro and acupuncture he’s really doing well.  He was even sidelined briefly by a snake or spider bite to his toe, but has completely recovered from that hiccup. The rehab therapist that does his massage also wants to start water therapy to help his gait, since he still does the bunny hop he started doing when he hurt his back originally.  She thinks that might balance him more and reduce some of the strain he’s putting on his body.  Moose is not a big fan of the water, but perhaps by next month’s post we’ll have had a chance to try this and see if he can tolerate it.

Most recently the vet has started him on some homeopathic treatments that have shown some benefit in cancer dogs.  I’m not completely sold on the benefits of homeopathic medicine, but I also never really thought I’d be doing acupuncture and chiropractor either so here we go.  He now gets pulse treatments of alternating carcinosin and heklalava, and though I haven’t been able to find much information on this type of treatment what I have found has been positive.  We are only a few days into the start of treatment but so far no issues with GI upset or anything strange.  He doesn’t like the taste but he loves canned food so it works out.  I’m supposed to alternate treatments, starting with full strength and diluting by half with distilled water each day for 7 days before switching to the other.  It’s supposed to halt/shrink/reverse any tumor growth by stimulating his immune system, so hopefully if he has mets in his lungs this will help.  I’m still operating under the out-of-sight, out-of-mind policy as far as his lung mets and haven’t taken any new x-rays, so the downside is I don’t know where I’m starting and where I’m going.  We’ll keep you posted.

Only 1 pic this month…Moose using my arm as a pillow
